JOB TITLE: Taproom Manager
DEPARTMENT: Hospitality
REPORTS TO: Director of Hospitality
EFFECTIVE DATE: 26 November 2024
SUMMARY: Manages and directs Taproom operations and activities to ensure effective and profitable operation and growth. Directly supervises and coordinates activities of Taproom Staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes tasks of Taproom Server:
- Greets patrons upon arrival; assists with seating as needed.
- Takes orders accurately and courteously; responds to patrons’ questions regarding available products.
- Maintains complete knowledge of and strictly abides by state alcohol regulations; verifies legal drinking age of patrons as needed.
- Handles purchasing transactions, which include operating cash register and accounting of daily sales.
- Receives payment from patrons; makes change as needed; issues receipts.
- Clears and resets tables and bar area as needed.
- Prepares all tasting room supplies prior to opening.
- Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all selections available and characteristics/description of all beer and merchandise available and prices.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation at all times; performs closing clean-up duties.
- Resolves patron problems/complaints ; utilizes own best judgement in resolving issues or refers to management as needed.
- Answers phone in a courteous and timely manner.
- Completes all necessary paperwork; maintains files and records.
- Controls the sales and profitability of Taproom operation.
- Responsible for creating and implementing Taproom and seasonal specials, and new slushy recipes.
- Monitors overall condition of Taproom, public areas, and outside grounds; ensures that deficiencies are rectified.
- Maintains visibility and accessibility to patrons, staff, and vendors; maintains effective communication with all staff to ensure Taproom is performing at established standards.
- Ensures that patrons’ needs are fulfilled and their experience is as pleasurable as possible; responds to patrons’ feedback, including complaints/problems.
- Establishes par levels for supplies and equipment; monitors and maintains proper inventory levels; authorizes purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Possesses and maintains through understanding of industry and stays abreast of industry trends; communicates/incorporates information to assure Taproom remains current.
- Ensures all operations are in compliance with all legislated health and licensing guidelines; ensures adherence to all health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintains complete knowledge of and strictly abides by state liquor regulations.
- Prepares accurate and timely reports as required.
- Assists staff with job functions as needed to ensure optimum service to all patrons.
- Assists in hiring, training and supervising, along with motivates, and develops Taproom staff; manages schedules, workflow and timecards.
- Assists Community and Events Manager to see that all events are properly decorated, scheduled and executed.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
- Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises 5-10 employees within the Taproom department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Cicerone Certification highly recommended.
- Computer skills required: Point of Sale (POS) Software and equipment, Internet Software, Microsoft Office.
- Other skills required:
- Craft beer industry experience highly recommended.
- Excellent customer service skills
