Journeyman Power Plant Operator OR Power Plant Apprentice-Tok

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Power Plant Operator OR a Power Plant Apprentice to fill a position in AP&T's Interior power operations department.

The Journeyman Power Plant Operator will oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of AP&T's interior facilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all power generation and distribution systems.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Record keeping of all diesel generation plants.
• Perform PMS on generation units, from oil changes to major overhauls.
• Assist with the installation of diesel generators and associated accessory equipment.
• Aid in troubleshooting problems with mechanical and electrical components.
• Maintenance of plant buildings and grounds including snow removal.
• Meter reading, fuel tank dipping, fuel handling.
• Evening and weekend on call duty - respond to outage calls.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Valid Alaska Driver's License; CDL preferred
• Minimum 5 years' experience with diesel engine maintenance
• Minimum 5 years' experience in the mechanical and electrical generation fields
• ADL, CDL, First Aid Card, CPR Card, VE, Flagging Certificate, Forklift Certificate, Hazwopper
• Completion of an accredited power plant training program or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety procedures, and tools used in the trade.
• Ability to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

The pay range for this position is $43.37 per hour and is DOE

The Power Plant Apprentice will support the operation and maintenance of AP&T's interior facilities, gaining hands-on experience in our dynamic environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist Journeyman Power Plant Operators in day-to-day function of the facility
• Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment
• Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge required for advancement
• Perform routine inspections and assist in troubleshooting electrical systems
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Document work performed and materials used as directed
• Respond to emergency calls and assist in restoring service as needed

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alaska driver's license; CDL preferred
• Strong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced linemen
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety procedures is a plus
• Ability to work at heights and in various environmental conditions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must be able to lift heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks

Apprentices are paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages based on a

percentage of the current journey worker wage rate.

The pay range for this position starts at $26.00 per hour.
