Job Description
In order to qualify for this position, a candidate must have international shipping Import Experience and Japanese language ability. Frequent and effective communication is essential to provide effective supply chain management for both US domestic and overseas suppliers. Key jobs for the Production Control Import Coordinator include Ocean/Air import scheduling and its delivery management from Yokowo’s overseas factories in Asia to the U.S. warehouses. The position also calls for the ability to foresee/anticipate potential issues that could impact deliveries and to take appropriate actions and/or make recommendations to overcome them.
Scope of Work
Support of overseas material/component ordering activities by providing Production Control group with incoming schedules for Ocean shipments as well as air shipments in order to ensure on-time deliveries. Monitor incoming parts delivery schedule and correlate with the freight forwarders to prioritize the deliveries to secure proper inventory levels and meet customer due dates. Communicate and coordinate with the outsourced warehouse for smooth operations.
* Material procurement from overseas with lead-time in mind and monitor incoming shipments.
* Verify/Follow up delivery status based on invoice information and ocean container status.
* Correlate with freight forwarders concerning delivery schedule and prioritize the deliveries as needed to ensure on time deliveries to customers.
* Put together Ocean container delivery schedules and unload onto TEAMS to share within the group.
* Update ETAs in the internal Yokowo system accordingly. Ensure accurate ETA updates to avoid any confusion.
* Perform Receiving entries in the internal system after verifying shipment arrivals and the matching entries in the warehouse’s system (WMS).
* Confirm any shortages on daily SOE and work closely with each PC member.
* Respond to freight forwarders’ inquiries in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner.
* Perform administrative tasks to support Production Control Management.
* Check daily operation condition and resolve any issues.
Job Requirements
College graduate or substantial production planning or freight forwarder work experience
Knowledge of basic import/export logistics.
Basic understanding of inventory management.
Practical organization skills with strong attention to detail along with ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments.
The ability to work under high stress situations and focus on accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and effective communications skills (verbal, written and utilizing all media (phone, email, text, chat, TEAMS) for interaction with customers, vendors and fellow employees including the ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources.
Proficiency with computers to intermediate level utilizing Microsoft Windows, Windows applications, and ERP order entry systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work outside of regular hours as needed to accommodate urgent customer orders or supply chain issues.
Fluency in written and spoken Japanese mandatory.
Excellent English Communication skills.
