The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will provide direct patient care services in the ambulatory, hospital inpatient and outpatient observation settings under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will act as an agent and the orders given and tasks performed shall be considered the same as if they had been given and performed by the Supervising Physician. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will work under a Delegation of Services Agreement and protocols governing performance of procedures and tasks. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will report to the Chief of Staff and Medical Office Administrator or Manager at the medical office site where services are provided. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will be responsible for taking patients history, performing physical examinations and making assessment and diagnosis. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will be initiating review and revising treatment and therapy plans while assisting in the performance for x-ray, therapeutic diets, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, laboratory procedures, screening procedures, therapeutic procedures and other studies. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will coordinate and facilitate referrals to other health or social agencies, and maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups and evaluations. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP may supervise the work of subordinate health workers and participate in professional and administrative meetings. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner NP will be recognizing and evaluating situations which call for immediate attention of a physician and institute, when necessary treatment procedures essential for the life of the patients.
