The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a dynamic and skilled GIS Technician to join our team! Under the supervision of the Information Services Director, you will oversee and manage the GIS operations within the city, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate GIS activities and support organizational goals across various departments.
Develop and implement GIS policies, procedures, and standards.
Manage and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Perform data analysis, mapping, and spatial data management tasks.
Develop and maintain GIS applications and tools for departmental projects and initiatives.
Provide technical support and training to staff on GIS applications and tools.
Stay updated on the latest GIS technologies, trends, and best practices.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS management or coordination.
Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Autodesk) and related technologies.
Knowledge of geospatial principles, cartography, coordinate systems, and database management.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Performing spatial analysis and creating high-quality maps and visualizations.
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in GIS systems.
Interpreting and analyzing complex spatial data to support decision-making. Tools and Equipment:
Multi-line telephone and voice messaging system.
Personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet, email, calendar, and internet applications.
Printer, copier, scanner, fax, and calculator.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment is usually quiet in the office.

The starting annual salary for this position is $81,057, with scheduled merit/step increases. After 5 successful years in theposition, the annual salary is $101,396. The workweek is Monday–Friday; 8 AM – 5 PM. This is a classified, exempt, non-bargaining position.
