About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Laboratory Science with a focus on animal care facility operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the establishment, evaluation, and supervision of the ACF, IACUC, IBC, SCRO, and research Laboratory Safety Office. This role involves training faculty, researchers, and staff on regulations and laws related to animal research, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, and maintaining AAALAC accreditation. The Executive Director will also oversee the ACF's daily operations, including space management, and will be the primary point of contact for all matters related to laboratory animal welfare and safety. Applicants must have a PhD in a biological discipline or a DVM, with a minimum of 10 years of animal laboratory experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. The role requires in-depth knowledge of laboratory animal species, particularly rodent husbandry, and experience with common ACF systems. The ideal candidate will have a background in scientific research and the ability to serve as a resource for principal investigators and research team members. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to the ethical and humane use of animals in research are essential. The Executive Director will work closely with the IACUC Chair, the IBC Chair, and the Lab Safety Officer, and will be expected to report on the status of the ACF and related committees to both internal and external regulatory bodies.
