Job Description
McCarthy Fabrication LLC (M-FAB) is looking for an entry-level CAD Drafter/Designer (Solidworks or Autocad) that can assist our senior drafter with putting together shop drawings, coordinating with engineers/project managers, and answering fabricator questions to make sure project-specific drawings are clear and concise.
Job Details - We are a rapidly growing company specializing in the design and fabrication of custom miscellaneous metals, including stairs, rails, and other architectural metal components. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a detail-oriented and adaptable CAD Detailer to join our team.
Position Summary We are seeking a CAD Detailer with a strong understanding of CAD processes and experience with programs like SolidWorks or Inventor. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and eager to learn, as no two projects are the same in our line of work. The role requires the ability to take precise field measurements, interpret them, and create detailed drawings for fabrication based on those measurements.
Key Responsibilities - Create accurate and detailed CAD drawings for miscellaneous metal components, including stairs, rails, and other custom metal fabrications, using SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Visit job sites as needed to take field measurements (to 1/16th of an inch) and incorporate those into detailed drawings.
- Collaborate with senior draftsmen and other team members to ensure design requirements are met and to resolve any technical challenges.
- Adapt to constantly changing project specifications and requirements, and be willing to adjust as new challenges arise.
- Assist with other tasks within the business as needed, displaying flexibility and a team-oriented mindset.
- Continuously improve skills and knowledge in CAD software, metals fabrication, and industry practices.
Qualifications - Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks or Inventor, with a solid understanding of 3D modeling and drafting.
- Experience with miscellaneous metals, particularly stairs, rails, and similar components, is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when taking field measurements and creating drawings.
- Ability to adapt to changing project demands and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to visit job sites, take accurate measurements, and collaborate closely with field teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small, growing team.
- A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and flexibility to assist with tasks outside of the CAD role as needed.
Why Join Us - Opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing company with varied and interesting projects.
- Hands-on involvement with both design and fabrication processes.
- A supportive, small-team environment where your contributions directly impact the business.
- Great learning opportunities and room for growth within the company.
- If you’re passionate about CAD design, enjoy solving new challenges, and are excited about working with miscellaneous metals, we’d love to hear from you! Apply today to join our team.
