The Freight Forwarding / Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sales growth activities, customer service, and relationship management of customer accounts. The Sales Representative contributes to the strategic corporate sales and growth goals by implementing sales and marketing plans and executes strategies to expand the customer base and increase existing customer sales, as approved by the MTI Forwarding, Inc. Director. This position is responsible for meeting sales targets both individually and as the team member. This position reports directly to the MTI Forwarding, Inc. Director, supports a globally matrixed team, and provides timely and accurate reporting on Key Performance Indicators such as marketing and sales activities, opportunities, and sales growth success.

SALARY:

  • $50,000 - 60,000 base salary with uncapped 10% commission on all sales (total earning potential $100,000+)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with shippers and customers and internal workgroups.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of cross-border transfer and inter-state shipping and transportation rules, regulations, and compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual sales plan, with targeted strategies to expand the customer base with rapid sales growth, as approved by the MTI Forwarding, Inc. Director.
  • Represent the company at industry association meetings and conferences to promote services and increase brand awareness.
  • Review market trends to determine customer needs, volume potential, competitive services pricing and respond to RFPs with a high level of accuracy, timely submissions, and well-planned presentations to win bids and close deals, within company policy.
  • Ensure timely customer issues resolution, invoicing, and adjustments, as per policy and with supervisor approval.
  • Provide customer training, support, and sales assistance as needed to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, services awareness, and increase usage with customer. (Be the go-to Subject Matter Expert for freight forwarding and logistics solutions.)
  • Work with matrixed global departments and assists in providing the Sales point of view with regards to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and accounting strategies.
  • Deliver well communicated, appropriate, and accurate sales and marketing reports to leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies and ethical standards.
  • Work independently and within the team, and cross-functionally on projects such as but not limited to marketing, responding to RFPs, planning, and developing customer and trade show presentations in multiple media formats and in person.
  • Provide timely reporting on Key Performance Indicators such as marketing and sales activities, service enhancements, sales opportunities, and sales success to Supervisor.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics and/or freight forwarding sales.
  • Experience with budgets and assisting with developing and implementing sales and marketing plans.
  • Experience expanding customer base while quickly increasing sales revenues.
  • Experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, logistics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in high volume freight forwarding sales.
  • Experience leading logistics project and/or work groups.
  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking a plus!
